Foster Care KidsNeed A Voice

Survivors of childhood sexual abuse deserve justice, accountability, and the opportunity to have their voices heard.

The State's Duty Cannot Be Delegated Away

When a county or city takes a child into foster care, it takes on the duty of a parent. That duty does not disappear when the county or city writes a check to a non-profit to place the child: the city or county cannot delegate supervision to a contractor and then walk away when that child is sexually abused.

New legislation, A4362-B / S9778-A, makes that principle the law — clearly, consistently, and without exception.

Survivors of childhood sexual abuse deserve justice, accountability, and the opportunity to have their voices heard. That's why we are urging lawmakers to stand with survivors and calling on legislators to take action and pass this legislation before the end of the legislative session.
